promoting oneself is essential to visibility in the public space, essential for commercial success and survival. why? making one's self known is the key to letting others know that you exist!
you exist and are recognised. what we mean by promoting ourselves means the whole package. first, we groom our looks, as well as hone our abilities and skills. finally, we have to be able to attract attention. if people dont notice you, you have failed already. look at the people in poly campus for example. they have outstanding shirts, weird hair and funky clothes. when looking for a job, there will be an interview. nonetheless, our future boss might be looking at us, evaluating what we can and cannot do, and if we are an assset or a liability. if we dress like a wreck, it shows that we have no sense of organisation. that is one example that i can think of.
ok! after we get the looks right, pertaining to the image we want to embellish, we have to walk the walk. we cant just talk the talk. if we do we are so screwwwed. this part is the application of quality and skills to an individual. ah ha! after we look great, we now also DO great! lastly, we have to be outstanding. in this aspect, know how to influence others and spread good word of mouth, sometimes this is a very powerful factor. in short your reputation = you.
no reputation? well thats too bad. this is a powerful tools that all people (sucessful ones) have in their arsenal. reputation attracts. just remember that. if you have a good establishment already, and go for an interview, or job hunt, chances are that people will be wow'ed / impressed by who you are already. this i figure, is a wonderful skill to manupalate.
