experiences... i believe everyone does learn from
experiences, even if they are not aware of it. what
kind of experiences are we looking for? no idea... so
i'd just spill some random ones... though i dont have
many nice ones.
when i was younger, i had to learn many things in my
life which i found to be useless in this country take
for example, archery and hunting. for each of these
sports, you propel a projectile at an object a
distance away, and doing so, checking how close you
hit the targets. the things to look out for in both
these events are concentration, focus, as well as the
innate competition if the sport.
you have to look out
for wind direction, the force of the weapon you
hold... like for a bow, there are several kinds. there
is the competition, shortbow, composite bow, as well
as the famous Long Bow. for each, the strings they
have in them have a difference, in terms of the force,
power as well as accuracy of them. you have to aim for
several minutes just to have a good shot, and usually,
the shots that you make are dependent on the angle and
style of the person pulling the bowstring. the
tenseness of the strings are also a reminder of what
you are doing.
i feel that it is a kind of
responsibility for an 8 year old to be taking archery
lessons. you learn alot from these alone, and thinking
back, i think what my parents wanted me to learn was
the ability to focus and concentrate, and excel
theres also the hunting. it was terrible. there was
hunting in the canadian wilderness, trekking over
mountains and hills, learning to follow tracks, which
i always missed when i started learning... and also...
the skills to shoot an animal from a long range.
also survival training... for the track reading,
i learnt that the smallest details make the biggest
differences... like... there are tell tale signs in
the grass, as in a slight discoloration, broken blades
of glass, even the field of grass and type of grass
can tell you what kind of prey can live in the area.
the smells and air direction as well as hidden trails
can also lead you to something unexpected. learning to
see which foods can be eaten... wild berries..
roots... even some kinds of grass... YES.. grass.
water can be obtained by scarring the trees, digging,
or gathering of water using leaves... then...
finally.. there is the shooting part... the learning
of how to strip a hunting rifle, which also can be
known as a SNIPER rifle, fitted with an 8x powered
uterl scope... how to cock a full metal jacket round
though the gun... and shooting an animal through the
view of a scope.. these are things that you dont
forget easily, and a lesson learnt. never take life
simple. its just so simple to die. take a bead,
steady.. and the shot. then you're just gone. suddenly
dead just like that. i guess... thinking... about it,
learning the value of life and skills to take and live, life..
